Then and Now
It all started January 7th 1991, when Bob, Dorothy, Ryan, and Patrick Simpson, along with Coco the dog opened Pacific Cycle & Kite shop. The first bikes to roll out the door were BRCs, Ascentes, and Yokotas, (chances are most of you haven't even heard of these bikes). Kite sales kept us busy in the winter months, and we even sold keys. We were in the north end of Nanaimo, near the property where Superstore was a church and Finning office. Home Depot and Staples, was a field where Pat and I used to play paintball and build trails for riding our rigid hardtails. Wow, how things change!
In 1993 we made a verbal agreement with Norco, a gentlemens agreement if you will, we promised to commit to as much Norco product possible. So that means 2011 will be our 18th year of dedication to everything and anything Norco, and trust me, this is a very, very good thing. Whether you're looking for a Norco bike, some Axiom panniers, a B.L.T. light, 661 or Mace armour, Hayes, Shimano, Avid disc brakes, Rock Shox and Marzocchi just to name a few, we will most likely have it in stock! And if not, give us 24-48hours, and you'll have it.
As well as our commitment to Norco, Haro bicycles will be gracing our showroom floor, and Masi road bikes are also available. 2007 marks the year we truly embraced B.M.X. bikes and gear. So along with Haro, we are also a Redline, and WETHEPEOPLE dealer, with access to huge brands such as Kink, Federal, Verde, Terrible One, Profile, DMR and loads more. So if it's B.M.X. and you want it, we can probably get it.
Now, what's new in the mountain bike department? Tons! We now sell Transition Bicycle's, Blur Optics, Straightline components, Simtra, Atomlab, Azonic, Syncros, Titec, and WTB to mention just a few. This is just a sample of what we have access to.
Now some thing's never change, and that's good. The Simpsons, Ryan, Bob, and Dorothy, along with help from Tanya, Amber and Summer, we're all still here. When you shop at P.R.B., chances are you're dealing with someone from the family, and that means we're dedicated to serving you to the best of our ability. On a service note, 2011 marks the 20th year we have been offering free lifetime brake and gear adjustments on any bike we sell, none of this 1 or 2 free tune ups, and then you pay. We like to reward our customers, and thank them for their loyalty. These are just a few of the things that we feel stand us apart from the competition.
